At the moment, Pup Scholar offers only two (2) thoughtfully designed Pet Care services that reflect a relationship-centered approach to caretaking.
While each service serves a different role—from live-in companionship while you travel to structured weekly enrichment while you work—they are united by a shared focus on understanding, connection, and ethical care. Availability and format vary by service, and all offerings are intentionally limited to protect quality and depth of care.
01 | Canine Caretaking: Companionship & Concierge
Continuity-Focused, In-Home Caretaking for when Families Travel
This offering is designed for humans who travel and want their dogs—and their home—cared for with consistency, discretion, and continuity. Rather than rotating unknown caregivers for short visits, this model provides a live-in, in-home companion, allowing dogs to remain in their familiar environment while maintaining their normal routines, rhythms, and expectations.
This work fulfills the role commonly thought of as pet sitting, while extending far beyond it. Care is centered on companionship, attunement, and stewardship, with the goal of preserving stability for both the dog and the household while clients are away.

Care is provided through a live-in caretaker model, in which a dedicated care practitioner resides in the home for the duration of travel. Time alone for dogs is intentionally limited, daily routines are maintained as closely as possible, and all activities are discussed and agreed upon in advance.
In addition to direct care and companionship, this service may include thoughtful concierge-level support related to the dog’s daily life and the functioning of the household, such as:
-
Coordinating veterinary or grooming appointments
-
Transporting dogs to pre-approved activities or services
-
Managing supplies and routine needs
-
Communicating with or coordinating other service providers
-
Light household upkeep related to the dog’s care and daily flow
The home is maintained according to the household’s preferences and prepared for the family’s return.
All live-in caretaking engagements begin with an evaluation and get-to-know-you process. This includes time spent with the dog and household prior to travel to understand routines, preferences, boundaries, and expectations. Care is never standardized or interchangeable; each engagement is intentionally curated to reflect the dog’s needs, the household environment, and the humans involved in daily care.
Depending on the situation, care may be provided by a single dedicated practitioner or small, personal, curated team to ensure continuity, safety, and reliability—particularly during extended travel.
-
Humans who travel and want their dogs to remain at home with consistent companionship
-
Dogs who do best with stability, routine, and familiar environments
-
Households seeking discretion, trust, and professional stewardship
-
Clients who value continuity and individualized care over task-based services
Availability for this level of care is intentionally limited.
Services are offered selectively to protect quality, depth, and continuity of care, and to ensure each family is thoughtfully matched with the care practitioner best suited to meet their household and dog’s needs.
A waitlist may apply when immediate availability is not possible.
This service model is designed for companion dogs who are integral members of the household and for humans who prioritize relationship-centered caretaking.

02 | Canine Care Sessions — Enrichment & Development Focused
An Enrichment-Centered Alternative to Dog Walking, Expertly Curated to Meet Your Dog’s Individual Needs
This service is designed for humans who want meaningful, structured support for their dogs during scheduled time blocks when they are working or otherwise unavailable. Rather than brief potty breaks or mid-day walks, this service replaces standard dog walking with thoughtfully curated activities selected to benefit each individual dog.
Care and activities are shaped around what each dog enjoys, needs, and responds to most—whether that involves enrichment activities, exploration, skill-building and cue-based learning when appropriate, socialization, calm companionship, or simply a walk when that is what best serves the dog. The goal is to support healthy development, provide enriching experiences, and foster well-being within the context of everyday life.
Care sessions are scheduled in flexible, pre-arranged time blocks on a regular or as-needed basis and are intentionally structured around activities that are appropriate and beneficial for each individual dog. Sessions are curated based on the dog’s needs, preferences, and developmental stage, and may include:
-
Enrichment and exploratory activities
-
Play-based or experience-based socialization and confidence-building
-
Skill-building and cue-based learning when appropriate
-
Age-appropriate engagement for puppies or adolescent dogs
-
Calm companionship for dogs who benefit from presence, routine, or low-arousal support
Visits are not task-based or interchangeable. Time is spent engaging with the dog in ways that align with their personality, interests, and developmental needs, rather than completing a standardized checklist. Activities may evolve over time as the dog’s preferences, skills, and needs become clearer through ongoing observation and engagement.
